Top 10 Highlights

  • Enjoy Cornwall’s breathtaking coastal scenery, from the rugged cliffs, tree-lined estuaries, sheltered coves with golden sand and turquoise waters, to quaint fishing villages, where time seems to have stood still. All waiting to be discovered.
  • St Ives is a great destination with its bustling, cobbled streets, wide variety of shops, thriving artists’ communities and of course the stunning beaches, offering surfing and many other ways to chill out. For the artistically inspired, there is the Tate, Barbara Hepworth’s magical sculpture garden and also many aspiring local artists to see.
  • St. Michael’s Mount, a stately home marooned on its own island, which is open to visitors. It also possesses colourful, hillside gardens and its own historic harbour. Stroll across the causeway at low tide or take the ferry if you don’t fancy the swim! Enjoy the magic by going early to avoid the crowds.
  • The Minack theatre is possibly the most unique theatre you will ever visit. Carved into the cliffs and open to the elements, a place to be transported by music or watch stories unfold, with the stunning scenery as a backdrop. Pack a picnic, a rug and settle in, watching the sunset beyond.
  • Lush sub-tropical gardens are nurtured by the warming gulf stream. From mid February you can explore gardens with blooming magnolias and camellias and in the fields outside you can see swathes of golden daffodils, lifting any winter gloom. Later in the season, marvel at the exotic plants that flourish here, against the sparkling sea which is never far away.
  • Join the artists who have flocked here, inspired by the intense coastal light. Try your hand at the art schools in Newlyn or St Ives, or visit individual artists at their ‘open studios’ for a more personal viewing. There are many galleries to tempt you to take home a unique momento of the inspiring coastal landscape.
  • The Isles of Scilly lie just off the coast of Cornwall, but feel a world apart. With azure seas and white sands, you may feel that you are in the Caribbean, with often not a soul in sight. Explore the many islands, take the water taxis, wander through the exotic Abbey Gardens or indulge yourself with a cream tea at Star Castle, now a luxury hotel. They can be reached on a day trip by boat, helicopter or plane.
  • Fabulous fresh seafood is landed at nearby Newlyn and many other Cornish harbours, providing some of the finest seafood dining in the UK. Simply sit on the harbourside with fish & chips, or treat yourself in one of the local speciality fish restaurants. Prepare to be blown away by the quality and choice on offer.
  • Immerse yourself in Cornwall’s living history. Discover the spectacular ‘untouched Neolithic‘ landscape around Zennor, where you can feel what it was like 2000 years ago. Tour a tin mine with an ex miner and see the engine houses perched precariously on the cliffs. Be enthralled by the maritime past, of naval engagements, piracy and smuggling, with each harbour having its own tale to tell.
  • When it comes to beaches, Cornwall has incredible choice. From your very own deserted cove to bustling beaches, perfect for swimming, surfing or just to soak up the vibe.
